How To Start Blogging In 2020?

Making this is the first step we have taken here to move towards successful blogging. The main purpose of starting this blog is to do something meaningful that also earns a good amount of money.

As we have made this blog, we would like to share our experience and also simplify this for you to also start blogging in 2020.

Back in the old days, blogging was just like writing a journal but in the past decade, blogging has become an online business rather than just writing journal entries.

Blogging earns you through helping others by sharing stuff and giving tips you know and do or even sharing news, facts, or quotes anything you like to share.

Let’s go through the easy step by step guide to how to start a blog in 2020.

Step 1: Choose a Profitable Niche

Niche is the specific topic you’ll write about. Now the question must be, why do I need a niche? Well, if you know specifically what you want to write about you’ll know your target audience and where to promote your blog.

Many bloggers or blogging advisers will ask you to choose a niche that is your passion but our passion is not mostly very profitable. (You can get noticed but it will require unique content that stands out).

For example, if you like fashion and clothing or dogs. There are thousands and thousands of people already blogging about that stuff.

What you need to do is choose something you’re passionate about but it has low competition. Something that will rank easily rather than choosing a niche that is already chosen by so many.

Step 2: Choose A Domain Name

Now you have to choose a domain name. Choosing a domain name that stands out and also gives away a little about your website is necessary.

A domain name is the most important element of your website because it is the address of your website. That needs to be unique, can easily be remembered, and tells what your website is about.

Why is your domain name so important?

  • The domain name is your first impression. Your URL is the first thing your visitors will notice and a good domain name will make a positive impression.
  • It affects SEO. Keywords in your domain name can help your SEO ranking, but you need to only add a single keyword in it, that gives google the idea of your site.
  • The domain name defines your BRAND. Your domain name is a branding opportunity and the right domain name will increase brand recognition.

Important things you need to consider before you choose a domain name:

  • Choose The Popular TLD:

TLD is a short form for top-level-domain.

The top-level domain is the part that comes after your domain name and before your subpages.

Use .com, .org or .net (the most popular ones):

There are so many other TLDs and you can have all sorts of different ones to choose from, so how do you know which one to go for?

You need to follow this rule:

If your target market is global (if your potential customers live all over the world): Choose .com

If your target is a specific country. Choose a TLD for the country you want to target. Example, .uk if your audience is United Kingdom-based).

A country-level TLD will help you rank well on that country’s search engines. For instance, the “.uk” domain will do better on

Google doesn’t give any importance to keywords in your TLD. There is no need for “.guitar” if your website is about guitars).

Most customers would guess your domain ended in “.com”. The same goes for your email address. ‘.com’’ or a country TLD is more trustworthy than keyword TLDs like  ‘.guitar”.

But, there is an exception:

Suppose, if you’re an Internet or IT company, you can consider “.net” or, if you own a nonprofit website, “.org” could be a good option.

  • Shorter is better:

When it comes to the length of your domain, shorter is better.

You need to aim for 6-14 characters in your domain and remember the shorter it is the better it will be.

  • Easy to type and pronounce:

All the brands we know, the popular business we know have very short, easy to pronounce names.

Think of Facebook, Twitter, Google. See?

You need to make your domain name short and brandable, that only stands out for you and is easy enough to be remembered so that your audience won’t face difficulty finding you on google.

  • Avoid hyphens and numbers:

YES, avoid numbers or any unnecessary letters or symbols.

Example: OR

Which one is better? Yes, is easier to remember and gives away that this website is about choosing a domain.

  • Use a keyword that reflects your website:

It will only tell Google what your website is about, so you’ll rank better. Your audience will know about your website just seeing its name. And, it will look like a brand.

So it’s better to choose a keyword and put it in your domain.

It is wise to check a domain’s CPC rate before registering it.

  • Think long-term over the short term:

Yes, don’t stick to ‘I will make a website’.No! Think long term: do you or will you plan to sell a product, a service or even expand your company? Yes.

Will you decide to change the domain in the future, it will cost you money, and SEO rankings will go down and the time you gave it will be wasted. In short – it’s not a good thing.

What you need to do is, choose something that will represent your website now and represent your website in the future accurately.

For example, if your company is about guitars, you could choose a domain name like, “”

If you think there’s a chance you might expand to services in the future, like guitar training, or add more about music instruments into your website, etc. Then, you might want to reconsider your domain name.

  •  Use domain name generators:

If you’re stuck on choosing a good domain name. You might want to give domain generators a try.

DomainWheel is a domain generator. is also a domain generator.

All you have got to do is put the keyword in the box and search for a domain.

This might help you find a suitable domain name.

Step 3: Get Hosting

Hosting is the webserver where all of your blog files and data are stored. It is like the neighborhood your site lives in.

For blog hosting, there are three things that you want:

Easy And Solid Technical Setup:

You don’t want to spend hours with complex setups on your hosting and work on unnecessary settings – because you’re here to blog and earn!

Reliability With Uptime:

Your blog needs to be up and running 100% of every month, day, and hour and it going down might remove your ranks from Google.

Page Loading Speed:

When you open a video or a page, the only thing you expect and makes you happy is the speed of its loading. It surely does affect mood.

Page loading speed is the average amount of time it takes for your blog page to load.

If these three work fine it will help you save time and make more money with your blog. If your WordPress blog runs smoothly, your visitors will spend more time consuming your content. That simply means more display ad income and more readers.

When you are completely new to blogging, (like a few months back, I was) how can you find the best blog hosting provider?

This topic is a little technical, so you may not feel too comfortable with the terminology. Let’s go through a few helpful tips that I researched while I was making our site.

Which hosting provider should you use in 2020?

There are hundreds of blog hosting providers to choose from and it gets overwhelming for any beginner, (it got really overwhelming for me).

I’ve made many mistakes trying to find the perfect hosting for my blog and asked for suggestions in Facebook groups, read articles about it.

SO, here I’ll just simply share my few best hosting providers that I’ll also suggest to my readers.

And, of course, you’re free to choose another hosting provider. You’ll find several that are perfectly OK.

My recommendation is simply based on my experience and what’s worked the best for my websites.

I use and recommend Bluehost, Siteground, and Hostgator for domains and blog hosting.

I’ll simply put the qualities they have and you can see for yourself what works the best for you. For me, the three have provided nice support and customer care that I can simply recommend to anyone.

You can start a blog on Bluehost in just a few minutes – even when you’re totally new to blogging.

With Bluehost, if you want to build a profitable blog, they’ll give you all the tools you need–at a super affordable price.

Siteground is also for Hosting and Domain. This is one of the best hosting and my hosting of choice. Siteground is the easiest, budget-friendly, and amazing Host for building and growing your blog and audience.

Personally, I like their GoGeek Plan, but you can get hosting and domain for as little as $3.95/month.

Also, if you want to switch from your current Host to Siteground, a free migration is included in the two more expensive plans. (I MEAN WOW)

They literally do everything for you and you don’t lift a finger. You can start your Blog HERE!

HostGator, my other choice and recommendation.

They have great support, 100% uptime, and whether you are looking for a personal website hosting plan or a business website hosting plan, HostGator is the perfect solution for you.

HostGator hosting services will not only help you achieve your overall website goals but it is one of the easiest website hosting platforms to use, and they provide support 24/7 and you have to do nothing and sit back and let them do all the work for you.

They are just as low as 2.75$ per month. Get the HOSTING HERE!

As you got your domain name and web hosting sorted. Let’s move to the blogging platform.

Step 4: WordPress Install

A blogging platform is a software you will use to build and manage your blog. It’s like the room your site lives in.

When it comes to blogging platforms, everyone, and do I recommend using WordPress.Org for creating your blog. Big companies and newspaper websites also use and it’s free.

Note: is a self-publishing platform that is popular for blogging and other works. It runs on a modified version of

WordPress.Org is the real WordPress and a blogging platform where you host your own blog or site.

WordPress is very simple even for beginners. You can learn the basics in a few minutes and do everything you need to.

Also, it is customizable once you feel comfortable enough with it. You can build anything with WordPress and customize your whole site in no time.

Things To Do When You Have Successfully Launched Your Blog

Once you have successfully launched your blog, you need to do certain things to get started. Let’s go through those steps.

Step 1: Customize your blog.

You need to choose a beautiful theme. When you have chosen a Theme and Installed it. It might seem very boring but it only gets better when you work on it and customize it to your liking.

The plugin Elementor is a free WordPress page builder and it’s also easy to use.

Step 2: Install plugins

You need to start installing plugins. Plugins are a sort of software that runs almost every errand on your blog and makes everything easy for you.

Here’s The List of Plugins You Must Have On Your Blog Or Site.

Step 3: Post Articles

Now you need to post articles.

Before you launch your blog, you must have five articles to post, so it doesn’t look empty in the starting days. But, you have not planned ahead, SeedProd is a coming soon page plugin. You can create beautiful landing pages even if you have nothing on your site.

BUT you gotta WRITE NOW!!

If you’re not a writer and don’t have any expertise in writing, you can hire a freelance writer.

Fiverr is a freelance marketplace where you can hire a freelancer.

Go to Fiverr, make an account, and find a freelance writer to write articles for you. For search engines to rank you, your articles must be over 2000 words.

(If you can also work with me, by clicking this page)

Step 4: Connect Your Site To Google And Bing

That’’s a very important thing you need to do. It’s important for you to sign up on Google Search Console and Google Analytics to know how your site is working.

Other than that, you need to make XML sitemaps of your site through Screaming Frog SEO Spider Tool And Crawler and upload them on the public_html folder of your site through Cpanel.

Here’s a full article on how to generate sitemaps on Screaming frog: XML Sitemap Generator

NOW THAT YOU HAVE THE SITEMAP, you need to also submit it to Bing and Google Search Console for your site to appear in Google and Bing search results.

Step 5: Promote on Social Media

If you have got a following on social media, it’s gonna benefit you a lot. And, if not, you need to make a following. That’s gonna be the most important thing to bring traffic to your blog.

You need to work on social media you are more familiar with. BUT, Pinterest is a social media that brings the most of your traffic.

Though, it’s also up to what’s your target audience and where does it live?

If your target audience is more active on youtube, you need to make a youtube channel, if your audience is on Facebook you need to work more on Facebook.
